About Us
sensory research group is a specialized agency offering cutting-edge sensory and consumer research & consulting services across Asia. We research all aspects of products as perceived by our senses. We focus on new product development as well as product optimization – for food as well as non-food products. Our core business is ‘product understanding’ – using a variety of techniques, spanning from sensory expert panels, to consumer research, to emotional engineering, to advanced data analysis, to eye tracking technology ... We work with manufacturers and retailers on food and beverages, personal care, household products and others, helping them optimize their concepts, products, advertising, communication activities, pricing, packaging and positioning.
Some of our key people … Dr Dieter Walz, Managing Director With more than a decade of market research experiences, half spent in Asia, Dieter is overseeing all consumer, sensory and eye tracking activities at the sensory research group. Dieter is also responsible for advanced data analysis. Dr Miflora (May) Gatchalian, our food quality and sensory research expert A former professor for sensory science, May is a member of the prestigious International Academy for Quality, and a certified “HACCP and SCP Trainer”. Most recently she became a member of the Advisory Board of Dubai’s e-TQM College. May has published several books on Sensory Evaluation, quality and statistics. Dr Alma de Leon, our sensory panel leader Our sensory panel expert, Alma is teaching as professor for sensory and food science at the Central Luzon State University in the Philippines. Alma is a member of various sensory science organizations, and published numerous articles and books relating to food and sensory science issues.
